- **General Notary Services**: $15 Per Signature. Acknowledgments, jurats, oaths & affirmations. Not including travel fees. Per signature, as permitted by California law.
- **Loan Signings**: Starting at $150. Full loan-signing packages, including document review, professional presentation, notarization, and scanback/drop-off when required. ## Before Your Appointment

A few things to have ready so your signing goes smoothly.

- **Valid Photo ID**: Each signer needs a current, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card, or passport.
- **Your Complete Documents**: Have every page ready and filled in, and wait to sign until the notary is with you.
- **Every Signer, in Person**: Everyone whose signature is being notarized needs to be present at the appointment.

### What's the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat?

With an acknowledgment, the notary confirms your identity and that you signed the document. With a jurat, you sign in front of the notary and swear or affirm that the contents are true. The document, or whoever prepared it, will tell you which one you need. A notary can't choose for you.

### Why do some documents need my thumbprint?

California law requires the signer's right thumbprint in the notary's journal for deeds and other documents affecting real property, and for powers of attorney. It's a standard safeguard against fraud.

### Can a notary give legal advice?

No. A notary verifies your identity and witnesses your signature, but can't give legal advice, explain what a document means, or prepare it for you. For questions about the document itself, contact the attorney, lender, or office that prepared it.
